On each side of the gnomon, there are two quadrants, the left for the morning and right for afternoon. Both the quadrants are divided by 6 hrs., 60 min. and each minute by 60 seconds. Using the shadow of the gnomon (which falls on one of the quadrants), you find out the time in jaipur.
Jantar Mantar - Jai Prakash Yantra is used in celestial observations, but can also verify the calculations of the other instruments. It may have been used to calculate auspicious days for weddings, business negotiations, etc.

Jantar Mantar - Brihat Samrat Yantra (King of the Instruments) is a massive sundial that aids in the calculation of local and meridian time and various attributes of the heavenly bodies. It's still used by astrologers and is the focus of a gathering during the full moon in June or July, when it purportedly helps predict local monsoon rains.
